ARRIVAL OF THE NEW AMBASSADOR
OF THE ARGENTINE
REPUBLIC
On the 7th of
October 2005, Ambassador Pedro Villagra Delgado, his
wife Carina and their son Pedro Joaquin arrived in Canberra. The
Ambassador is a lawyer and public notary, graduate from the
National University of Tucuman, and completed his Masters in
Public International Law at the University of London. In his
career, he has served at the Foreign Ministry’s Legal Counsel
Office, at the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the United
Nations, at the South American Department and as Consul General
in London, Director for International Security, Nuclear and
Space Affairs and Chief of Cabinet of the Foreign Minister. He
has been a member and head of several Argentine delegations
before international organisations and has participated in
bilateral and multilateral negotiations. In the field of
academia, Ambassador Villagra Delgado is an Associate Professor
of Public International Law and was Professor of International
Politics at the University of Buenos Aires. He has published
articles in Argentina and overseas on international security,
non-proliferation and international law.
